Teenager Coco Gauff was knocked from the first round – just days after winning her maiden WTA title from the Luxembourg Open.
15, american world number 71 Gauff, was defeated 6-4 6-0 by Russian eighth seed Anna Blinkova in only 59 minutes.
Gauff became the youngest player in defeating former French Open champion Jelena Ostapenko in the Linz Open final to win a WTA title in 15 years.
Gauff and compatriot Caty McNally are in the womens doubles quarter-finals.
Im very happy with my performance, said world number 66 Blinkova, who will play Germanys Tatjana Maria at the next round.
I did not make a good deal of mistakes and that I had the correct strategies. I was so calm now, and that I did my job well.
I was very concentrated. I understand shes a terrific player and I knew that she was coming from a WTA tournament triumph, so I had been well prepared.

The organization providing Video Assistant Referee (VAR) technology in the Premier League has apologised after having a graphic error during Tottenhams 1-1 draw with Watford.
Spurs midfielder Dele Alli salvaged a point for Spurs four minutes from time, cancelling out the opener of Abdoulaye Doucoure.
However referee Christopher Kavanagh pioneered a VAR check for a handball that was guessed.
Kavanagh signalled to get a goal after the review, but a mistake from the bottom in Stockley Park triggered a concept on the large screen of No Goal.
Confusion was caused by the problem among both sets of fans – and the firm, Hawk-Eye Innovations, has pledged to work to make sure there is not any repeat scenario.

The Competition Committee decided against forcing coaches to challenge pass interference plays within the two-minute warning as the Judy Battista of NFL Network reported Wednesday.
The decision was announced by the Football Operations department of the NFL with team personnel, head coaches and officials. Teams will have a week to provide feedback prior to the Competition Committee communicates the rule.
Within the statement, the team said the replay official will stop the game to initiate an overview for PI”under stricter standards” compared to other reviewable plays. The hope is that the”stricter standards” will decrease the amount of reviews over the last two minutes of the halves, as pace of play is a concern given that each and every pass play could be reviewable.
“A decision about the area will only be reversed when there is’clear and clear visual proof’ that warrants the shift,” the statement added.
The last rule determined that”Hail Mary” plays will be subject to pass interference inspection but will be assessed in replay”consistent with the guidelines for officiating the play on the area.” The language of the”Hail Mary” rule indicates the replay official will defer to the on-field refs for almost all conclusion of game calls.

PITCHING MATCHUP: Athletics RH Frankie Montas (7-2, 2.83 ERA) vs. Rangers LH Drew Smyly (1-4, 7.93)

Montas has allowed three or fewer earned runs this season after yielding four hits and two runs in six innings of a 4-2 victory over the Angels in Anaheim on Tuesday. The 26-year-old Dominican native boasts a 1.17 WHIP and .237 batting average from this year with 69 strikeouts in 70 innings. Montas is 1-0 with a 3.60 ERA in five games (two starts) against Texas after an 11-5 victory over the Rangers on April 23 where he allowed three runs and nine hits in 5??2/3 frames.
Smyly allowed seven runs and eight hits in each of his last two starts – reductions to Baltimore 12-11 on Tuesday and also at Seattle 8-7 on May 29 – while yielding a joint five home runs in 8??1/3 innings. The 29-year-old Arkansas native, who is 0-2 with a 7.43 ERA in six home starts this season, is saddled with a 1.86 WHIP and .283 batting average against. Smyly is 1-2 with a 5.83 ERA in eight games (five starts) versus Oakland, including a no-decision when he allowed four runs in five innings of Texas’ 8-6 loss to the Athletics on April 12.
