The Resorts has been the first seaside casino to start following the legalization of all Atlantic City casino gambling.
When then-New Jersey Gov. Brendan Byrne cut the grand opening ribbon in Resorts at May 1978, therefore began a rollercoaster of casino/resort openings, closings, re-openings, refurbishments up and down the Boardwalk.
Forty-one decades after, Resorts is still going strong in the heart of Atlantic City, and they welcomed their amenity, the DraftKings Sportsbook, final November 2018.
DraftKings initially was concentrated on fantasy sport. But along with challenger and its cohort, FanDuel, it is a relative newcomer to the lawful sports betting game. Despite the relative newness, DraftKings has held its own over the front versus names such as Caesars, William Hill, along with MGM.
Plus they make a solid showing in the front in concert.
I have been reviewing every single NJ retail sportsbook ahead of the NFL season, and today I am looking at DraftKings Sportsbook at Resorts in Atlantic City.
Address: 1133 Boardwalk, Atlantic City, NJ 08401
Resorts is in the heart of Atlantic City’s”Boardwalk Strip.”
The newest DraftKings location is easy to find, just within the boardwalk entry. Resorts provides amenities such as a spa bar, and dining and club choices as well as all the casino action.
Like Atlantic City casinos, even if you aren’t a hotel guest or a loyalty cardholder, you’ll be hit with a fee for fundamental self-parking. Not ideal, but it’s the price of”doing business” at AC.
It ‘s 5,000 square feet and has a total capacity of almost 400, Though the DraftKings distance feels little. The interior d??cor and color scheme are embellished in”DK colors” of black and green. The branding is delicate but on stage with neon”kings crowns” located throughout the space.
Aside from the extravagant d??cor would be the copious quantities of kiosks adjacent to the sport bar and found in the entrance.
All told, you can find 18 self-serve terminals in the area, equaling just FanDuel in the Meadowlands (wait, are those daily-fantasy-turned-sportsbook operators on something?) For the number of kiosks in NJ sportsbooks.
The kiosks counter the live teller area, which can be tucked into a corner. It’s a little space with capacity for as many as five tellers.
Even though the documented dimensions (5,000 square feet) and capacity (396) is big, the novel feels much smaller and cozier. With low ceilings and bigger format video displays, it does have a comparable”Fan Cave” feel comparable to, say, the Golden Nugget novel.
Againnot a terrible thing, as DK has performed an outstanding job.
The Resorts sportsbook includes a rectangular shape from live teller place, the other in the back of the novel that holds four VIP places: one resulting in a bar and its own sportsbook region with just two offshoots. The main viewing area features four main large screens that aren’t”giant” by any means but match the space allocated.
Beneath the four big video displays are 10 smaller screens for sport action. A ticker screen is scrolling updates and the scores and an odds and information wall located opposite the bar.
DraftKings’”fire marshal” capability of 396 belies the truth that there is somewhat limited seating in the main sportsbook area. There are 40 theater chairs anchoring the viewing area with 15 standard seats located behind on a daybed railing. For a support partition will obscure some of the displays for the ones that are currently sitting behind it, Regrettably, there’s a bit of a design defect in this area.
Furthermore, the bar area has about 15 additional seats. That’s a total of 70 seats, not counting.
There are five live betting windows adjacent to the bar.
While my trip was not in a”summit” period, an individual could visualize some crowd issues at occasions, along with all people wedged into the corner of this space.
RATING: 3.5 stars
DraftKings rips it. What’s even better is that the majority of machines are available and available 24 hours a day. Well finished, DK.
RATING: 5 stars
The teller minimum is $5. This higher”live-teller” minimal is offset by the user-friendly kiosks, which are at a low $1 minimum.
RATING: 4 stars
One is not overwhelmed with displays in the Resorts book. The TV screens are serviceable, with no”wow” impact.
There are four large displays in four more in the VIP area and the main viewing area. All the screens in the viewing area and adjoining to the bar are a format that is more compact.
Not the best situation for seeing NFL Sunday in action.
RATING: 3 stars
The”non-VIP” seating capacity is roughly 70. Yes, the 40 theatre-style chairs in the viewing area are exceptional.
The 15-seat rear rail does come with power outlets (a nice touch). The VIP areas are listed to transport up to 12 people (12 would be the absolute maximum ) and features plush leather sofas and low tables. It feels”VIP-ish,” as the four regions will be consecutively adjoined (not personal ) with a single big screen that may be set to whatever game you wish to see.
RATING: 3.5 stars
The daily chairs accessibility is”first-come, first-serve,” together with the VIP areas available to be booked beforehand.
RATING: 4 stars
As with AC sportsbook locations, the casino has been built well before the launching of this sportsbook. While some other novels have restricted to no food choices (i.e., depart the novel to come across the food court), DraftKings Sportsbook introduces some solid options if you choose to not ever leave your seat or the sportsbook itself.
Along with the large bar in the publication, you can find drinks available via table support and”Happy Hour” discounted drink pricing on Sunday-Thursday out of 2-7 p.m.
The food menu is short, but solid featuring some sports pub food such as burgers, hot dogs and chicken wings but also a few unique offerings featuring meat rolls, quesadillas, along with chicken parm.
RATING: 4.5 stars
On my visit, there were four DraftKings staff and all were customer focused to answer questions, describe bets, or teach how to use the self-betting kiosks.
DK has pinpointed the lines paper display. There is a wall opposite the bar that displays an assortment of future displays and lines. Under these screens is a row of newspaper sheets. Well finished, DK!
RATING: 5 stars
Resorts Casino is in the heart of the Atlantic City Boardwalk. This prime location has been reflected in the prices of 20. Yecch!
RATING: 2 stars
As highlighted earlier, Resorts includes a large number of options under its roof as well for all those”non-sports betting” frame in your mind which you might happen to be in, there’s something for everybody.
The place in the heart of the Boardwalk makes it easy for you to journey up or down the boardwalk to find entertainment options as mentioned.
RATING: 4.5 stars
As part of each sportsbook trip, I am placing a bet for the upcoming 2019 season.
Using its 18 kiosks adorned throughout the space, it was only reasonable I made this bet at one of their terminals. In addition to the bet minimums of $1, the DraftKings kiosks are filled which you don’t watch at the book.
After looking at some NFL possible bets round”NFL team to acquire the maximum matches” and then”NFL defensive rookie of the year,” I took a shot “Last NFL team to be undefeated at the 2019-20 season.”
Excellent luck and go get’em, New Orleans Saints:
The Resorts sportsbook provides some amenities which are available at other Atlantic City sportsbooks. DraftKings scores marks in the areas of an extraordinary number of kiosks, in-seat food-and-drink ordering, along with reserved seats.
The yells on DraftKings in Resorts, however, stem from the space within the Resorts area. The TV screens are on the smaller side in relation to other books along with the seating capacity is about the low side.
If given a free rein to design a space one assumes that DraftKings would do things differently, however they need to do the best with all the space available.
So the positives do outweigh the downsides. Together with a positive customer-service strategy and dedication, it will place the DraftKings Sportsbook in Resorts around the”must-consider” list for a trip during the upcoming college and NFL seasons.
