Exeter City kept up with the speed at the top of League Two win over preceding leaders Forest Green Rovers at St James Park.
After beating Crawley Town rovers overtook the Grecians at the summit last week, because Ryan Bowmans goal was all that separated the two teams however their stay was brief.
Exeter made a fantastic start to the game won five corners inside the opening seven minutes, however they didnt make them count.
The opening goal wasnt long in coming and it came on 11 seconds. Jack Sparkes left a great low cross that found Bowman at the near post and showed excellent trickery on the left and that he volleyed beyond Lewis Thomas to put the Grecians in front with his fifth goal of the campaign.
Aaron Martin came to Exeters rescue with a dazzling block to refuse Jack Aitchison, while Nicky Law ought to have done for Exeter, who countered but his lob drifted over the crossbar.
Rovers had a glorious chance to equalise when Aaron Collins had a free header six yards out, but he was refused by a stunning diving rescue by Exeter goalkeeper Jonny Maxted.
That has been as good as it got with Exeter viewing out the game to sit on points with leaders Crewe.
