The organization providing Video Assistant Referee (VAR) technology in the Premier League has apologised after having a graphic error during Tottenhams 1-1 draw with Watford.
Spurs midfielder Dele Alli salvaged a point for Spurs four minutes from time, cancelling out the opener of Abdoulaye Doucoure.
However referee Christopher Kavanagh pioneered a VAR check for a handball that was guessed.
Kavanagh signalled to get a goal after the review, but a mistake from the bottom in Stockley Park triggered a concept on the large screen of No Goal.
Confusion was caused by the problem among both sets of fans – and the firm, Hawk-Eye Innovations, has pledged to work to make sure there is not any repeat scenario.
Hawk-Eye apologises to Spurs and Watford fans for the confusion caused when an erroneous graphic was sent to the large screen, a company statement .
We are working together with PGMOL along with the Premier League to understand the main cause of this problem and suggest measures to ensure it wont happen again.
