She’s waited three years since her gold medal at the World Youth in Turkey to be given a chance to compete internationally, and patiently bided her time never slackening in practice because boxing is something she doesn’t want to stop. And so it is that Sarju never stops training — or thinking about it even as she stops at Mumbai for some media interactions. “I don’t like taking off on Sunday,” says the soft-spoken girl, restless to grasp that World title.

I have been to many dark places and know that I might not have survived to tell the tale without knowing my own culture of high Himalaya and eastern spiritual knowledge. Nepal’s mountains have long been a destination for adventure lovers. Mountains like Everest, Lhotse, Annapurna, Manaslu and Dhaulagiri have been skied by foreigners since the 1980s. Krishna Thapa says he himself has skied of Dhaulagiri, Manaslu and Makalu and says if promoted well, Nepal could do wonders. He has completed a raft of world first’s including leading the largest Summit group up Everest of 13 UK Special Forces and Gurkha and he was the first serving Warrant officer to scale Mt Everest & K2.

#14: Krishna Thapa Integrating Ancient Wisdom & Philosophy into Modern Life

If done right, skiing can be huge in Nepal because there are so many places it can be done,” says Krishna Thapa, an internationally recognised ski instructor. “Krishna’s main strength is his height which he uses to good effect. His physique has also improved and he is very good in front of the goal. I have seen Thapa ever since he broke into the India U-13 team.

It’s how she saw Mary Kom beat poverty, it’s the route she wants to take out of her own drudgery. “My father and mother should rest now, I should take care of them and brother Rakesh who is studying. “I have decided to announce my nomination for the post of ANFA president to eliminate irregularities pervasive in Nepali football that I have discerned during my five years playing career,’’ said Thapa at a press meet in Pokhara.

My name is Krishna Thapa Magar, and my life is one of service. At 19, one of the first to join the British Ghurka formed my vision of Himalaya and became the first to pass selection from RGR and enter the British SAS in the regiment’s history. For the past 26 years, I have served on the front line in Afghanistan and Iraq, on combat missions & in a training capacity. One of my roles supporting my fellow soldiers, my brothers, was a mountain specialist and mental health awareness.

However, soon Krishna and Thapa lost the confidence of the coach with some lacklustre performance for the team. In fact, Krishna’s performance dipped in the middle of the SAFF Championship and he was ignored for the friendly match against UAE held in Dubai later that year. But Ghosh kept his faith in Krishna and included him in the 22-member U-16 team for the AFC U-16 Championship Qualifiers in Kuwait. In the match against hosts Kuwait, India were trailing 2-0 when Krishna came on the pitch in the 61st minute.

Thapa, 16, however, was impressive as ever in the midfield, working like a well-oiled machine. In episode 21, we talk to Christine Dennison, a female pioneer in extreme ocean exploration. She co-founded Mad dog expeditions in the US and is the first woman to dive and document the remote regions of Canada’s Northwest Passage and the Rio Negro in the Brazilian rainforest.

He has got a good technique and is a great passer of the ball. I know I’m not the biggest of boxers, but before I even think of Olympics, I want to win the World Championship,” she says.

Krishna takes us back to the mindset shift required to conquer the competitive Gurkha selection process, battling self-doubt and failure to succeed on his second attempt. You’ll hear how he had to forgive his parents to progress in life and how he led expeditions, including leading the first-ever double amputee to summit Mount Everest. Krishna Thapa has been in the skiing trade for over a decade. During this time, he has trained people from the UK and from different parts of Europe. But, now he wants to share what he has learnt with Nepalis as he aims to inspire a new generation of adventure lovers to carry on his legacy in the mountains. Both Krishna and Thapa came into the spotlight last year when India, led by Krishna, defeated hosts Nepal to win the U-16 SAFF Championship.

Instead, Krishna Thapa has been doing things on his own, through various grants he receives. Since he started the ski festival, he has trained over 1,000 people and he hopes he can continue to do so. Since 2009, whenever Krishna Thapa went trekking in the mountainous regions, he always took his skis with him. People were sceptical and told him it was ambitious of him, but he did not listen to them as he did what he wanted. Krishna Thapa, who hails from Uttarakhand, turned to coaching in 2017 and was a trainer at a state-run academy in Telangana before taking up the role with Gujarat just before the National Games.

Nepal successfully chased the target look at these guys of 105 runs, reaching it in 19.3 overs with 4 wickets remaining. Since training at high altitudes is good for the body, this is another thing that the government should be looking at.

Just two minutes into the match, Krishna showed his poaching skills and pulled back one for India. Even though India lost 1-2, Ghosh was impressed with what he saw and Krishna has never looked back since then. Founding his own guiding company, HST adventures, and the Sustainable Himalayan Foundation, a not-for-profit that supports and promotes sustainable mountain tourism, leads female empowerment initiatives and works to improve the lives of mountain communities. Krish now focuses his effort on helping veteran amputees get into mountaineering and has successfully led them to the summits of Kilimanjaro, Mera Peak, Mount Kenya and Mont Blanc – with Elbrus and Aconcagua already pencilled in for the not-to-distant future. He has just come back from yet another world first achievement leading the first above the knee double amputee safely to the summit of Mount Everest in what is considered as one of the most deadly years Everest has ever seen.

This project reflects Krish’s personal life ambition since leaving the British SAS dedicating his life to supporting others to achieve their goals and transcending their limitations. I have guided a PTSD, Blind, Deaf, Double amputee above the knee, and Parkinson’s sufferer to Mont Blanc and Mera peak’s summits and taken double amputee veterans to summits in The Alps, Africa the Himalayas. In 2023 I will lead a double amputee’s first attempt to summit Mount Everest.
