Arnold Allen (-350) vs Gilbert Melendez (+265)

Arnold Allen (14-1) could be one of the best fighters you haven’t seen before and also the odds certainly suggest oddsmakers are taking him seriously against Gilbert Melendez (22-7). Allen will fly under the radar somewhat as he has only fought once a year because 2014, but when he does fight, fans are in for a treat.
Allen is someone who lets his game do the talking and he does not tend to be a personality pre- or post-fight, that may hurt when it comes to marketing. He is making an effort to be more active as it is already his second fight in 2019. He comes into this bout undefeated in the UFC with a 5-0 record with two functionality of the nighttime awards to his credit.
Gilbert Melendez, 12 years old than the upstart Allen, has been through wars with just about everybody in the UFC. Melendez has without question diminished, entering the struggle. It is not a good sign when a fighter needs to step away from the sport to find their love for this again. After his last struggle, he did just that, but I have very real questions about the motivation of Melendez, who hasn’t won because 2013.
This is going to be the biggest battle of Allen’s career and when he’s got a nice showing, it should vault him to the top 15, eventually. He’s well educated and has proven an ability to adapt to the struggle in front of him.
Interestingly, he’s given away a number of his approach already, saying:”I’m ready for anything, I’ve had all sorts of struggles. I’ve been in boring fights where nobody gets hit and you end up winning without getting touched, and I have had fights where I have been in small brawls, kind of grinding struggles, so I will be ready for whatever he brings. I am just going to outpoint himoutskill himand going to be a bit better than him at the evening ”
I concur, and Allen must point-fight his way to a decision victory, but he needs to not give in to Melendez, who will desire a kill-or-be-killed firefight.

#6 Buffalo vs. #11 St. John’s: Buffalo is under-seeded, in my estimation. The Bulls are No. 22 on KenPom, and have the No. 19 offense and No. 29 defense. CJ Massinburg is a legit celebrity, and that I think the Bulls are just too much for St. John’s. Select: Buffalo
#3 Texas Tech vs. #14 Northern Kentucky: DE-FENSE [CLAP CLAP] DE-FENSE [CLAP CLAP] The Red Raiders have both the No. 1 defense AND Jarrett Culver. Their crime has struggled at times, but they will not have an issue with the Norse. Select: Texas Tech
#7 Nevada vs. #10 Florida: KenPom has this as a pick’em (one stage Nevada triumph ), and Vegas favors the Wolfpack by 2. Nevada is prone to falling behind early and using drives and threes in the Martin twins to scale back in. The Gators have ended the season strong and appear to be peaking at the right time. Despite Jordan Caroline being among my favourite players, I think Florida understands this in a close one. Select: Florida
#2 Michigan vs. #15 Montana: Michigan got a bad draw in needing to play the same team they faced in the opening round last year. That Montana group was considerably better than this one, along with the Wolverines rolled. They will roll again. Pick: Michigan
Second Round
#1 Gonzaga vs. #8 Syracuse: Syracuse against Gonzaga. No history , right? In 2016, the Orange snuck by Gonzaga by three to make the Elite Eight in which they mad Virginia to make a Final Four. This year, the Zags get revenge. Select: Gonzaga
#5 Murray State vs. #4 Florida State: The Ja Morant Cinderella story ends here. Mfiondu Kabengele along with the Seminoles do only enough to slow down the Racers and proceed to the Sweet 16. Pick: Florida State
#3 Texas Tech vs. #6 Buffalo : UPSET PICK. BUFFALO TO THE SWEET 16. The Bulls have a difficult defense and will make things hard enough for TTU to evaluate they proceed. Pick: Buffalo
#2 Michigan vs. #10 Florida: I’ve noticed this particular bowl game before. Iggy Brazdeikis, Jordan Poole, Charles Matthews, and Jon Teske are simply too much for the Gators within this . Select: Michigan
Sweet Sixteen
#1 Gonzaga vs. #4 Florida State: Sticking with FSU’s length and their ability to interrupt the Zags on crime. The Seminoles do not have the best offense, but they are powerful enough to maintain Gonzaga honest. This should be an wonderful game, so that I hope we get to view it. Select: Florida State
#2 Michigan vs. #6 Buffalo: After seeing the No. 1 defense in TTU, matters just let up slightly for Buffalo using Michigan’s No. 2 defense. It is too much for the Bulls in back-to-back matches and they run out of steam in the second half. Select: Michigan
Elite Eight
#2 Michigan vs. #4 Florida State: Another great game if we can get it. I enjoy Michigan’s defense here as the big men inside can bang with the best of them. I don’t trust FSU’s shooting enough to allow them to get enough on Michigan’s defense. Select: Michigan
