He former Sligo boss took charge of the Tribesmen for five seasons, overseeing real progress in that time. The Westerners achieved Division 1 position picked up two Connacht names and consolidated that place.
They bridged a 17-year gap by choosing up a championship win at Croke Park and attaining an All-Ireland semi-final last summer.
They were unable to reach the Super 8s this year after a provincial closing reduction to Roscommon and a qualifier defeat to Mayo.
There will not be any shortage of high-profile names linked to the function, along with the county is well positioned to compete in the table in the next several years, together with success at both club and provincial on a stage.
